Underground City of Kaymakli is the widest and enchanting underground city in the region. It has eight levels deep but only four levels are allowed to be visited by the travelers. The first floor serves as the place for animals, the second floor has a church, the third floor serves as the supply area and the fourth floor is the kitchen area which has large storage for food. There is enough ventilation all over the place and has communication systems connecting the floors. There are tour guides outside the underground city to help you out in exploring the underneath as there are multiple tunnels to pass by. You can say that your tour is complete without seeing the Valley of the Birds or the Pigeon Valley. People and bird creatures can live harmoniously. The spot is a perfect place to view the unique rock formation of the region while feeding the birds that fly by. The valley is situated between Uchisar and Goreme.
One of the fascinating places in the Cappadocia is Uchisar Castle. It covers a big area in the region and it would be a bit strenuous to climb on the top of the castle and takes about more than a hundred steps before you reach the top. You will be greatly rewarded with its magnificent view of the towns surrounding it. The structure inside it is empty and rooms are connected through tunnels and narrow spaces. The town itself has local souvenir shops and cafes where you can relax after exploring the place. On the other hand, Goreme Valley is situated in the volcanic zone and contains rock sanctuaries. Those who are into pottery will enjoy their stay in Avanos Village. The place is well known for its clay products. Locals have mastered the skill in pottery making and making a living out of it. The skill has been passed on from generation to another and has become a tradition. There are basic pottery demonstrations and workshops which you might want to try yourself.
